Evolution of number of customers

At the end of 2010, customer numbers reached 7,161,949, an approximate increase of 115,000 customers when compared to 2009. This was a moderate increase, due to the serious crisis affecting the residential building industry.

In fact, increasing customer numbers have become more moderate over the past two years than in previous years, due to the decrease in residential building. In Spain, for example, 160,000 homes were begun in 2009, a 56% decrease when compared to 2008. It was also the lowest figure recorded in the last half-century. Homes built in 2010 decreased by 35% when compared to data from the previous year.
